Sunflowers trending this Spring '16

Spring is here and what better way to welcome it than with Sunflowers?  Sunflowers were a huge trend in the 90s and they are back!  The t-shirt (in the picture above) with dainty little sunflowers was something I wore in the 90s and still have.  It's in great condition and you can purchase it in my Etsy shop along with the rest of this outfit:

Wear the Sunflower Tee with my vintage green wrap skirt and accessorize it with my lemon slice necklace and white woven handbag for a complete Spring look.
All items can be found in my Etsy shop called rginart

*This outfit was inspired by the famous 90s music video "No Rain" by Blind Melon. It takes place in a field of pretty yellow flowers and reminds me I want "No Rain" this April*

STAY DRY EVERYONE!

Easter 2016

Easter Sunday will be here before you know it, so how should you prepare?  Wearing a nice plaid dress in Easter egg colors is a good way to start. You can pair it with flats or even jelly sandals. And you don't want to show up empty handed to a gathering, so I've put together a Forget-Me-Not Flower themed basket that the host will enjoy.  Floral Basket includes:
-Lemon sugar cookie mix packaged in cute linen bag with bunny image
-Ceramic cookie press of floral pot image
-Handmade Forget-Me-Not Flower Happy Easter Card-blank inside
-Forget-Me-Not (unused) Stamp
Multi-colored Sleeveless Plaid Dress and Basket can be purchased at my Etsy shop called rginart

Resort 2016

When people think of resort, they think of a place to getaway and relax.  When I think of resort, I think of that unusual time between Winter and Spring, when it's warming up outside (and you finally get to show off some leg), yet you still need to throw a sweater on. When the snow is almost gone and you can enjoy the outdoors, while wearing a lot less layers. It's finally "Resort 2016" my friends and the 1990's are back!  That means ribbed shirts, baby doll dresses and mules.  You know, the kinda outfits the female cast from "Friends" used to wear? So since it's still kinda chilly out, I put this outfit together which you could wear on your next resort trip :)

A Tommy Hilfiger Ribbed Turtleneck
A Floral Baby Doll Dress
A Moroccan-inspired Necklace
&
Camel-colored Mules

This complete outfit can be purchased at my Etsy shop called rginart

A Day in New Jersey's Village

Today, being the 2nd of February, I was due to get my monthly bus pass.  Having this pass in my hands every month is like a ticket to a new adventure.  I had the whole day to myself and what better way to enjoy it than with a trip around New Jersey's Village.

It was a warmer day in Jersey, but I was craving some really good coffee, so I went to this South Asian restaurant that had a tasty Chai Latte. I looked at the menu and under the, "Dang, I Just Woke Up" section, I ordered the best omelette I've ever had!

This egg dish had salmon, feta cheese, olives, and chives, with a side salad and an English muffin.  Too Yummy.  I promised one of the waiters, who I actually know, that I'll be back another day for dinner time.

Exiting the restaurant, about 3 doors down, there was this vintage book/record store that was so inviting.

From rare readings that are dated from the turn of the century to record albums that have just been released, this place is just as rad as can be. Culture is fascinating and it isn't only found in museums, but in cool little Mom and Pop shops like these. Sometimes a collection of sorts can turn into a business and I am all for supporting them.

Have a good night!

Playing Matchmaker at a Thrift Store

It's so much fun playing matchmaker and styling articles of clothing from a thrift store.  The Orangesicle Sweater Vest caught my eye first, then the complimentary colored Teal Hip-Hugging Pant, which matched so well with the Bluish Grey Tweed Blazer.  I had to get them all.  Not for nothing Valentine, they just looked so meant to be.  And finally, I spotted this Purplish Houndstooth Scarf that completed the outfit as a whole.  Match made in heaven.  Visit my blog regularly to see other outfits I combine, but in the meantime check out my Etsy shop where you can find this outfit and many more.

A 90s garment travels to Valentine's 2016

Every year we see trends from the 80s, 70s, 60s, etc., but this 2016 the 90s are back! And I'm excited to say, I still own some original pieces that I purchased back then. Those of you may remember how cool the store, Wet Seal, used to be in the 90s.  It was around the time when the film, Clueless came out, so it had a school girl influence but cutting edge.  Their t.v. screens played MTV videos from morning till closing time. And you would leave the store not only humming alternative music but simultaneously checking your beeper, and carrying that classic yellow Wet Seal shopping bag with a great outfit to wear the next day to class.  This Chevron Skirt, was one of the many things I purchased at Wet Seal.  Plus, it's never been worn!  How appropriate would it be to wear it now in 2016 for Valentine's Day? Who said garments can't travel to the future? It can be found at my Etsy shop, along with my Army Green Glittery Neck-Tie Blouse.  Complete the outfit with thigh-high boots for a modern twist.

Have a Lovely Day <3

Dressing for the Snow

Yesterday was the first day it snowed in Jersey this Winter.  I couldn't stop looking out my bedroom window, it had been years since I had seen snow. My Cell phone that I had purchased in Florida, now set for New Jersey, had flurries.  It looked like a winter wonderland...so magical!

So now that I'm living in the cold, I've divided my wardrobe into 4 sections.  These are the 4 basics that keep me warm: Long Sleeve Under-shirts, Sweaters, Leggings, and Bottoms.

Wear these 4 essentials under a Winter coat, throw on a scarf, knitted hat, gloves, and boots, and you are guaranteed to stay warm enough to enjoy the snow.

Happy Winter!
